Creating your MyNSFAS account correctly for the 2027/2028 academic year is an essential step in applying for financial aid from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). To ensure that your application is processed smoothly, you must upload all the required documents to your MyNSFAS portal. These documents help NSFAS verify your personal, academic, and financial information before approving your funding. Missing or incorrect documents are among the most common reasons why applications are delayed or rejected, so it is important to prepare and upload them carefully.

For the 2027/2028 NSFAS application cycle, applicants will need several key supporting documents, including a certified copy of their South African ID or birth certificate, proof of household income, academic transcripts, and consent forms signed by parents or guardians where applicable. If you are a dependent applicant, NSFAS will also need your parents’ or guardians’ ID copies and proof of income, such as payslips or affidavits. Independent students, on the other hand, will need to provide their own income verification.

Submitting the correct MyNSFAS account-required documents ensures that NSFAS can assess your eligibility accurately and confirm that you meet the funding criteria for university or TVET college studies. Whether you are a first-time applicant or reapplying for continued funding, keeping your documents updated on your MyNSFAS profile is crucial. By preparing these documents early, you increase your chances of a successful NSFAS application for the 2027/2028 academic year and secure the financial support needed to pursue your studies without interruption.

The online application for NSFAS is currently open, but not all can apply. Below are the people who are eligible to apply for NSFAS:

• A person with disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600,000 per annum
