The management of NSFAS has opened the opportunity for Late Application for 2023/2024. The National Student Financial Aid Scheme, better known as NSFAS which provides the very popular NSFAS bursary, finally opened applications for 2022 after delays were seen.

NSFAS applications opened on 2 November with a NSFAS online application having to be submitted using the NSFAS student portal, myNSFAS. when is the NSFAS closing date for 2023 bursaries? Applications for NSFAS funding will closes on 21 January 2023, for students and future students to complete a NSFAS application. Here’s how.

So what are the NSFAS requirements?

  • South African citizen or permanent resident
  • Must be applying to a University or TVET College or be a student already
  • Household income for able-bodied individuals must come to R350 000 or less per year
  • Household income for people living with disabilities must come to R600 000 or less

If you’re a SASSA grant beneficiary, you immediately qualify. The NSFAS bursary will pay for your registration and tuition fees, accommodation, transport, books and other living costs. NSFAS has been providing bursaries to students for 30 years now with millions having received an NSFAS bursary already.

NSFAS bursaries are for those studying at or applying to one of South Africa’s 26 Public Universities or 50 TVET Colleges. NSFAS unfortunately does not fund courses from private colleges and private institutions. The bursary will also not pay for short courses, second degrees and postgraduate courses.
