Who Is Qualified For Nsfas Registration For 2025/2026
The following people are eligible to register for NSFAS in 2025/2026:
  • All South African citizens
  • All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
  • Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
  • A person with disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
  • Students who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.

Nsfas Registration Required Documents 2025/2026

  • A certified copy of your South African ID or birth certificate (if you do not have a green barcoded ID or smart ID card).
  • Certified copies of your parents’, guardians’, or spouse’s South African IDs or birth certificates.
  • Proof of household income, such as recent payslips (not older than three months), pension slips, or affidavit if your parents or guardians are unemployed. For self-employed parents or guardians, a sworn statement of income is required.
  • A completed and signed consent form, which can be downloaded from the NSFAS website. Your parents, guardians, or spouse must sign this form to permit NSFAS to verify your household income.
  • If you have a disability, a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form (also available on the NSFAS website).
  • Your most recent academic transcripts or results, including:
  • For Grade 12 learners: Certified copy of your latest school results or progress report (if currently in Grade 12).
  • For applicants already at a higher education institution: Certified copy of your latest academic transcript or progress report.
  • If you are an orphan, a certified copy of your parents’ death certificates.
