NSFAS 2025/2026: Will It Be Open For Applications:
Do you wish to study or are already studying at a public university or TVET college and come from a family with an income of R350 000 or less, then the good news is Nsfas is Open and you can apply. From the 21st of November 2024, the online application window for Nsfas 2025 will be activated to receive applications from all applicants nationwide.
If you wish to be financed by the scheme in your higher education, then this is your chance to effect that opportunity you’ve been looking for. Applicants are to make sure they submit their application before the application deadline which is on the 31st of January 2025.

Who Is Qualified To Apply For Nsfas when It Is Open In 2025/2026
Nsfas can only be applied for, if you meet the following qualifications:
- All South African citizens
- All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
- Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
- A person with disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
- Students who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.
Required documents Needed When Nsfas Is Open In 2025/2026
The following are the documents needed when applying for Nsfas:
- If you are a SASSA recipient, then no proof of income is required.
- Copy of ID
- Once you accept the applicable terms and conditions, you confirm that you have received consent from all relevant parties.
- If the applicant is dependent on their parents, guardian or spouse, they must provide:
- ID copies of parent(s), guardian or spouse
- Proof of income of the parent(s), guardian or spouse (payslip or appointment letter, where applicable)
- If the applicant is self-sufficient, they must provide:
- Proof of income (payslip or appointment letter)
- 1 year’s IRP5 form Note (SASSA no proof of income required)
- A completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form must be completed by a social worker.
- If the parent(s) are unemployed submit a Retrenchment letter/Proof of SASSA recipient letter
- If the parent(s) are deceased submit a Death certificate/s.
- If the parent(s) are divorced a Divorce decree is required.

To successfully apply for NSFAS funding through the online registration platform, follow these steps:
Step 1: Visit the NSFAS website:
