Create Google Workspace Account

A Comprehensive Guide on How to Create Google Workspace Account for an Organization

Create Google Workspace Account

Google Workspace is a collection of google products. It consists of Gmail, Contacts, Calendar, Meet and Chat for communication; Drive for storage; and the Google Docs Editors suite for content creation. An Admin Panel is provided for managing users and services.

Google Workspace includes the productivity apps you know and love—Gmail, Drive, Docs, Meet, and many more—in one location, so you can create, communicate, and collaborate.

Depending on edition Google Workspace may also include the digital interactive whiteboard Jamboard and an option to purchase add-ons such as the telephony service voice.

While most of these services are individually available at no cost to consumers who use their free Google (Gmail) accounts, Google Workspace adds enterprise features such as custom email addresses at a domain (e.g. @your), an option for unlimited Drive storage, administrative tools and advanced settings, as well as 24/7 phone and email support.

When you sign up for Google Workspace, you’ll gain access to a set of integrated apps that work together seamlessly. For instance, you can receive a message in Gmail and instantly convert it into a Calendar event. When you make a comment in Docs , Sheets , or Slides , collaborators automatically receive email alerts.

After you sign up for Google Workspace, here’s how we suggest you get started. Find your edition and type of business, below. Sign up for the edition that fits your business or organization

Individual edition

For one-person businesses that don’t own a domain and instead use a personal domain, such as gmail.com, hotmail.com, or yahoo.com. Go to the Google Workspace Individual Help Center.

If you have a personal Gmail address and don’t need to own a domain, sign up with your existing Google Account.

Google Workspace Individual offers features to help small business owners be more productive. Designed for one-person businesses and “solopreneurs” using a personal account domain, such as gmail.com, hotmail.com, or yahoo.com.

Business editions

Applies for Business Starter, Business Standard, and Business Plus editions.

Refer to these setup guides to use your Business edition with a Gmail address or a verified domain. Choose your business size to get started. If you have multiple users, sign up for a Business or Enterprise edition. You can sign up for a Business edition with just your personal Gmail address (ends in @gmail.com) or a business email address (ends in @company.com), or verify your domain to get more features. You must have a verified domain to sign up for an Enterprise edition.

Google Workspace introduces three major developments:

  • a new, deeply integrated user experience that helps teams collaborate more effectively, frontline workers stay connected, and businesses power new digital customer experiences
  • a new brand identity that reflects our ambitious product vision and the way our products work together
  • new ways to get started with solutions tailored to the unique needs of our broad range of customers

There are a few key differences that set Google Workspace and Gmail apart: Gmail is free to use, whereas Google Workspace is a chargeable service; Google Workspace plans range from $6–$18 per user, per month. Gmail users have full administrative control over their email and Google Account login credentials.

Google Workspace is home to a wide variety of productivity apps, including Hangouts, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Forms and more. For the purposes of this article, it’s worth noting that Google Workspace also includes Gmail — however, this version of Gmail is very different from the one we typically think of.

According to Google, “Google Workspace’s Gmail features include custom business email @yourcompany, unlimited group email addresses, 99.9% guaranteed uptime, twice the storage of free Gmail, zero ads, 24/7 phone and email support, Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook, and more.” Google Workspace allows for up to 30 email aliases per user. As part of the official Google Workspace rollout, Gmail will now integrate with Chat, Meet and Rooms in an effort to create a unified communication platform to compete with Microsoft and Slack.
